How to Convert Crypto to Cash: Off-Ramping Explained

How to move funds from your crypto wallet to your bank account.

April 28, 2026

If you've won a raffle or stacked up some crypto, you might be wondering how to get those funds into your bank account. There are a few different ways to cash out, including crypto debit cards, centralised exchanges, and peer-to-peer marketplaces. The right method will ultimately depend on where you live and what services are regulated in your country. If you're completely new to the space, the easiest route is using a centralised exchange, like Binance, Kraken or OKX. Here's a walkthrough

Step 1: Move your funds to a centralised exchange

The simplest route to cash out crypto is through a centralised exchange (CEX). A CEX acts as the bridge between crypto and traditional finance, and it's where you can turn crypto into money to spend.

Binance is the biggest exchange in the world by trading volume and a solid starting point for most users. That said, the right exchange for you will depend on your country and which fiat currencies are supported in your region. Kraken, OKX, and Coinbase are all reputable alternatives worth checking if Binance isn't available or supported where you are.

If you’re in Dubai, for instance, OKX offers quick AED off-ramps. If you’re in the UK, Kraken is usually the simplest for GBP withdrawals.

Step 2: Complete identity verification

Before you can withdraw to a bank account, most exchanges require identity verification (KYC). This is standard across all regulated platforms and typically involves uploading a photo ID and a selfie. It usually takes a few minutes, though some exchanges may take longer during busy periods.

If you've already set up and verified your exchange account, you can skip this step.

Step 3: Convert your crypto to fiat

Once your funds have arrived on the exchange, you'll need to convert them to your local currency. On Binance, the easiest way to do this is through the Convert feature.

Head to Trade, then Convert. Select the crypto you want to sell, choose your local fiat currency, enter the amount, and confirm. The conversion happens instantly at the current market rate.

There are other ways to sell crypto on Binance, including spot trading and OTC, but Convert is the most straightforward option for beginners and works well for most use cases.

Other ways to off-ramp

CEX conversion is the most beginner-friendly route, but it's not the only option.

Crypto debit cards

Services like Binance Card or Wirex let you spend crypto directly, converting it to fiat at the point of sale. It's a convenient option if you'd rather spend your winnings than withdraw them to a bank. Fees and supported countries vary, so check the small print before signing up.

P2P (peer-to-peer)

P2P platforms connect you directly with buyers looking to purchase crypto, often with more flexible payment methods and sometimes better rates. Binance has a built-in P2P marketplace. The trade-off is that you're transacting with individuals rather than a regulated platform, so always stick to verified buyers, use the platform's escrow system, and treat any pressure to move fast as a red flag. This method is better suited to those with some crypto experience.
